The Jigawa State government has paid a total of N9.4 billion as retirement and pension benefits to 2,146 retired civil servants across the three strata of civil service in the state from January to December, this year.
This was contained in the end-of-the-year media briefing by the Executive Secretary of the State and Local Government Pension Scheme Board, Mr Kamilu Aliyu Musa in Dutse.

He also said the Board paid N488.9 million as the December terminal benefits to 209 civil servants in the state.
He said the breakdown shows that N4.1bn was paid out as terminal benefits while N5.2bn was paid as a pension to retired workers within the period under review.
The amount covers retirement benefits, death benefit, death pension balance, refund of 8% contributory contributions, among others.
Musa also called on the beneficiaries to avoid giving bribes to anybody in the process of collecting their benefits, urging them to report any of his staff that ask them for the bribe.
He, therefore, commended Governor Badaru Abubakar for his support to the Board and prompt release of the pensioners’ entitlements.
