Jigawa pays N5.5bn to 1,294 pensioners

Jigawa state government has disbursed the sum of N5.5 billion to 1,294 retirees as pension and other benefits last year, the Executive Secretary of Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board, Alhaji Ahmad Fagam has said.

Fagam, told Chronicle in Dutse yesterday that the entitlements comprised of retirement, terminal and monthly pension benefits, noting that N3.4bn was monthly pension allowance, while N2bn was terminal benefits of the beneficiaries.

He added that the beneficiaries comprised retirees of state, local government and Local Education Authorities (LEA).

“Retirement, death and pension, eight percent pension contribution refunds and monthly pension entitlements was paid to 1,294 beneficiaries within the period under review.

“We are up-to-date in the payment of entitlements to retirees and those who died in active service. The board and the state government will continue to ensure a better welfare for both retirees and those in active service.”
