Jigawa NBA rejects order to boycott court proceedings

The Jigawa State chapter of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), says it will not embark on court boycott over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, as instructed by their mother body.

The chairman of the state chapter of the NBA, Bashir Usman, made this known in a statement though, said the state chapter looked at the ugly development as a trial period for the legal profession in the country.

He said, instead of going on strike, the warring factions should find a way of sorting out their differences through legal means.

“The Nigerian Bar Association, Dutse branch, will not embark on any strike or boycott of court proceedings.

“The branch expresses its deep concern over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria. It is a trial time for the legal profession in Nigeria.

“Therefore, called on the warring parties to seek redress through legal means by appealing against the order of the tribunal for the suspension of the CJN, instead of embarking on court-boycott that would be detrimental to the parties.”
