The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has suspended its Chairman in Roni LGA, Alhaji Sale Idris, who was arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating his 14-year-old maid.
The suspension was contained in a letter signed by the state party Chairman, Hon Aminu Sani Gumel, and made available to newsmen.
According to the letter, the allegations against Mr Idris contravened Article 21.2 (Vii) and (X) of the APC Constitution 2022 (as amended), hence that Mr Idris should hand over the local government’s party affairs to the vice chairman to allow a legal process to take its cause.
City & Crime reports that Mr Idris (56) was arrested by the Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Wednesday following a complaint lodged by the victim’s brother; that the suspect raped and impregnated his 14-year-old sister who was a house help in the suspect’s residence.
