Jigawa gov presents N156bn budget for 2021

Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State on Wednesday presented N156 billion budget to the state’s House of Assembly for the 2021 fiscal year.

The figure is 29% higher than the 2020 revised budget of N124 billion.

Out of the figure, the sum of N78.3 billion is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, including provisions for contingency and stabilization funds, while the balance of N78.2 Billion is earmarked for capital expenditure.

The governor expressed optimism that the budget was realistic and achievable based on the parameters used in the medium term expenditure framework (MTEF) projections.

Breakdown of the budget, tagged: “Budget of Sustained Economic Growth and Social Transformation: Meeting the Next Level Agenda II”, showed that education got the highest allocation of N19.9 Billion, followed by works, N14.6 billion and health, N12.24 billion.
