Jigawa gov inaugurates livestock reforms committee

Jigawa State governor, Umar Namadi, has inaugurated the State Livestock Reforms Implementation Committee to enhance livestock productivity, resolve land-use conflicts, and promote sustainable farming practices. 

Governor Namadi highlighted the livestock sector’s significant contribution to Jigawa’s economy, noting that it accounts for over 30% of the state’s GDP. 

The 17-member committee, chaired by the governor, will engage stakeholders, including livestock farmers, herders, processors and community leaders, to address challenges in the sector and implement strategic reforms.

Meanwhile, the state government, in partnership with the Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE), has launched a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to secure financial resources for non-state schools.

Speaking at a two-day capacity-building workshop, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Lawan Yunusa Danzomo, announced the establishment of a PPP framework aimed at improving education access by engaging private and community-based schools. 

Dr. Danzomo affirmed the government’s readiness to collaborate with private institutions to achieve sustainable learning outcomes.
