Jigawa commissions 2,500 seats mini stadium

The Jigawa State government has commissioned a 2,500 seats capacity mini stadium built at the cost of N525 million.

Commissioning the stadium, the state Commissioner for Information, Youth and Sport, Bala Ibrahim, said the stadium was commissioned after the first phase of the construction work, adding when fully completed the stadium would be expanded to a 5,000 capacity.

According to him, the construction of the stadium started in 2012 when the contract was awarded at the cost N352 million, but later reviewed with an additional amount of N173 million.

“The remaining works at the stadium include the completion of the popular stands, roofing of the VIP stand, fixing of chairs, doors and tiling at both the VIP and the popular stands.

“As we are going to commission this gigantic project that gulfed over N524.8 million with a view to putting it to use. Out of this amount the present administration spent over N218.4 million to complete the project,” Ibrahim said.
