Jigawa commences construction of 1,500 housing units

The Minister of Defense, Muhammed Badaru Abubakar, Sunday laid the foundation for the construction of 1,500 houses in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.

Badaru, the immediate past governor of the state, described the project embarked on by his successor as a manifestation of commitment and good intention to take Jigawa State to the next level.

He said during the campaign, “I told Jigawa people that, His Excellency Umar Namadi is a gentleman, straightforward, prudent and patriotic, if elected he will not disappoint us. Thank God today I am vindicated.

“Governor Namadi has built on our legacy, so many projects and programmes that touch the lives of Jigawa electorate which were executed in the last eight months. Today we are witnessing the foundation of another laudable project, the construction of 1,500 houses across the state.

“I also feel honoured and delighted for inviting me to be part of this historical event. Thank you and I promise to continue giving my support for making Jigawa State great,” the minister declared.

In his speech, the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi said the construction of the 1,500 houses is part of his government’s commitment to providing affordable houses to the people of the state in line with his 12-point agenda.

He added that the project has multiple social and economic advantages as more job opportunities, and employment will be created besides the provision of more accommodation.
