Jigawa state government has celebrated eight years of wild polio-free status.
It called on stakeholders in the state to sustain the efforts towards ensuring that the successes recorded is not wasted.
The Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Agency, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim, while addressing newsmen on the ongoing routine immunization exercise in the state, appealed to the traditional, religious and other opinion leaders to continue to encourage the people to take their children under the age of five for such immunization.
“There is the need for strong surveillance so that we detect people who have new case, especially among vulnerable population under the age of five in all our communities so that if it appears, it can be detected in good time and curtailed in good time,” he said.
