The King Air 200 jet, with registration number 5N-HIS, is being operated by Mobil Oil Nigeria-Wings Aviation.

It was learnt that the aircraft was trying to park at a tarmac beside Bristow Helicopter hangar when the incident happened.

The cause of the incident was not yet revealed but sources said it might not be unconnected with the malfunctioning of the brake.

Officials of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) also visited the scene to assess the extent of the damage.

Sources said the aircraft was not intended for a flight as the incident was a minor occurrence.

Also, the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) said it was not investigating the accident since the jet was not intended for a flight.

The AIB-N confirmed the accident, saying the aircraft collided with the apron wall while taxiing to reposition for ground run.

“The Bureau has taken the decision not to investigate the incident as there was no intention of flight.

“This is in line with the provisions of section 29 Civil Aviation Act 2006, Section 3 of Civil Aviation (Investigation if Air Accident) Regulation 2019 and the guidance document of ICAO Annex 13

“We recognise the safety issues involved but have taken steps to work with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), who will take lead in the investigation to prevent future occurrences,” the bureau said in a statement by its spokesman, Tunji Oketunbi.
