A Nigerian digital consultancy company, Learntor, is hosting a three-day virtual conference ‘Women in Agile Africa’, in partnership with Junior Chamber International (JCI) as part of closing the digital skills gap among youths.
The virtual conference which is targeted towards youths in Africa, especially women, is being attended by 85 speakers from 18 countries around the world; to be transmitted in three languages: English, French and Portuguese.
According to the Convener and English Lead of the Women in Agile Africa, Mercy George-Igbafe, the conference would bridge the digital skill gap in Africa and develop a capacity that can enhance global competition in the technology space.
Speaking on the partnership with JCI, she said that, “JCI has a wide membership of youths between the ages 18 and 40 years and that is our target audience.”
“They have a project which aligns with what Learntor is doing. We are targeting 10,000 people to register and JCI has that capacity in membership,” she added.
President of JCI Nigeria, Wale Bakare, expressed excitement at JCI’s collaboration with the firm.
“There is a problem of unemployment in Nigeria but there is a greater problem of employability. A lot of young people today are not employable. This is why we are excited to partner with Learntor to provide a platform for mentoring young minds,” he said.
