Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has claimed that the state is being ruled by placeholders.
He said this is the first time the state would have someone who truly wants to govern Lagos State.
Jandor said this explains why he has been meeting different segments of the people apart from touring the 245 wards in the state.
He spoke on Friday when he met Akilo Spare Parts Dealers’ Association where he assured of his readiness to restore their lost glory in the state if he emerges Governor of the state in the 2023 general elections.

Responding to the remarks by the dealers that this is the first time a governorship candidate would be visiting them, he said, “I must say that what you have overtime are just placeholders. This is the first time that you would have someone who truly wants to govern Lagos State and you cannot govern Lagos without knowing how they feel, where they live, do business and how their environment is.”
Jandor was accompanied during his tour of Agege LGA by Sola Osolana, Agege House of Representatives candidate, Seyi Bankole, Agege 01 House of Assembly candidate, Sogo Ejikunle, candidate of Agege 02 House of Assembly.
They were received by the traders, where the former chairman of the Association, John Asomugha assured Jandor that they would vote for PDP all the way, and give the party 100 percent support, in spite of intimidation from the ruling party.
While appreciating the group for the warm reception, Jandor said, “I thank every Igbo person in Lagos State. I am thanking you because if they tell us that Lagos State is the wealthiest state in Nigeria, it is because of your contributions in ASPANDA, Alaba, Ladipo and everywhere you do your business.
“For a government that understands what it means for people to bring in their money to do business in their community, employ people, pay taxes, it must appreciate the people.”
Jandor stated that he was meeting the people to have firsthand information on their needs and aspirations.
He added, “We are not doing this because we want to canvass for votes but because we want to know your needs so that when we get to office we would know how to address them.
“It is not that I didn’t know what happened to you when your shops were destroyed, but it is not the same as when you are speaking about it to me sitting beside you.”
Assuring the group of his commitment to ensure that they are happy again, the governorship candidate said, “The moment I get into office I will make sure that you regain your lost glory. God has seen that you mean well for where you live and do business, except for those who do not mean well, it is then that you will feel comfortable with all the harassment from ‘agberos’
“Any time containers are coming in, you are made to pay through your nose. We will look at the government that has inflicted these pains on us and vote it out of power. You voted for PDP over the years because you meant well for Lagos State and this time we are going to get it right.”
While addressing their request for protection during the election, Jandor said, “For your request about protection, myself, Sola Osolana were in APC, and we were the foot soldiers. I can assure you that we are going to match them force for force because we understand the terrain.
“We have put down our tools over there, and we have moved the tools here. Let them braze up because we are going to give them a run for their money. Don’t express any worry, this election is already won, the only thing that you will do is to protect your votes. For the first time in history we are going into an election proper.”
