Three suspects have been apprehended over malpractices in the ongoing Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, examination exercise.
The Sokoto State JAMB Coordinator Malami Salihu, who confirmed this to Daily Trust in Sokoto, said two of the suspects, Ibrahim Umar and Umar Sani were ‘Professional writers’ who allegedly specialized in sitting for the examination for candidates while another suspect Ubaidu Malami did double registrations.
He said Umar and Malami were nabbed at Blue Crescent CBT centre in Sokoto while Sani was caught at the Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto.
The state coordinator said Umar was arrested by a JAMB monitoring team, led by Registrar Ishaq Oloyede, while overseeing the conduct of the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Sokoto.
Commenting further on the suspects, the state coordinator said: “They register on behalf of other graduates with their pictures, thump print everything but they come to write with the name of other candidates.
One of them had already written for three candidates and he collected money. He registered for about six candidates.”
He said the suspects will be taken to court.
