The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested four candidates writing the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations for vandalising a Computer Based Test Centre (CBT) at Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
Otuoke is the hometown of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
While speaking with newsmen in Yenagoa, the state capital, on Thursday, the State Commandant of the Corps, Mrs Christiana Abiakam-Omanu, said the suspects were arrested at a Computer-Based Test Centre in Federal University, Otuoke.
She warned that NSCDC will not tolerate vandalism of government infrastructure.
She disclosed that the four male candidates registered disrupted the smooth exercise at the centre and destroyed some facilities on Tuesday.
She said the suspects were allowed to participate in the examination before they were arrested.
She said that investigation is ongoing to unravel other suspects to make them face the full weight of the law.
The four suspects, who admitted committing the offence, however, regretted their actions and appealed for leniency from the government.
