The Jaiz Foundation has paid fines and compensations for 13 inmates convicted of minor offences at the Sokoto Central Prison to enable them regain freedom.
A trustee of the foundation, Engineer Garba Muhammad, said the gesture was to enable them live normal life and contribute to nation building.
He advised them to avoid criminal activities and be loyal to their parents.
Muhammad said the foundation spent N260,000 to secure their release.
In his remarks, the Deputy Comptroller at the prison, Abubakar Muhammad, who expressed appreciation to the foundation for the gesture advised the inmates to be of good behaviour and desist from  anything that may return them to prison.
