Jaiz foundation empowers 100 women in Kano

No fewer than 100 women have benefitted from the Jaiz Charity and Development Foundation’s alms distribution programme in Kano.

In his address during the distribution ceremony held at the Emir’s palace, President of the foundation, Alhaji Umar Abdulmutallib, represented by Alhaji Mukhtar Sani Hanga, said the foundation had distributed over N500m worth of items and cash to the needy in many states of the country.

“Fifty grinding machines, 41 sewing machines, 8 freezers and some cash were distributed to over 100 women in the state in order to empower them to become self reliant,” he said.

He said the foundation had intervened in the areas of healthcare, education, poverty alleviation, victims of flooding, inferno and Boko Haram insurgency.

Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, called on the beneficiaries to utilize the donation in order to be self reliant and take care of their children, thereby discouraging street begging.

The emir, who said begging is prohibited in Islam except where it is absolutely necessary, thanked Jaiz Foundation for the good work and called on wealthy individuals to fulfill their religious obligation by giving out to the poor and the needy so as to have a better society.

One of the beneficiaries, Aishatu Shitu Abbas, thanked the foundation and assured them that the beneficiaries would use what they received to improve their lives and that of their families.
