Ize-Iyamu receives title as PDP accepts APC defectors in Owan East LG

Ahead of the September 19th governorship election in Edo State, hundreds of All Progressives Congress supporters in Owan East local government of the state defected to the Peoples Democratic Party to support Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Speaking during governorship campaign, PDP leader in the area, Sen. Yisa Braimoh, said the mass defection is a testament of the popularity of Governor Obaseki and his performance in the last three years and eight months.

“Since you joined our party, we have issued out over 3,000 cards to new members. This is happening not only in wards 3 and 4 but across all wards in the local government area.

“If an election is conducted today in the state, we will win our entire wards with over 85 per cent”.

Also speaking, governor Obaseki reassured that the construction of Ivbiaro-Warrake road will commence by October this year for the benefit of the people who are majorly farmers.

According to him, his administration will focus on human capital development to better the lives of the people.

  • Itsemakhoma’ of Auchi

Meanwhile, the Otaru of Auchi and Vice-Chairman of the Edo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Aliru Momoh Ikelebe III, has conferred a traditional title of ‘Itsemakhoma’ of Auchi on the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Otaru conferred the title on Ize-Iyamu when the APC candidate paid a visit to his palace on Wednesday during the governorship campaign in Auchi, Etsako West local government of Edo State.

He said the conferment was due to Ize-Iyamu’s love for the people, track record of performance in his previously held government positions, as well as respect for the traditional institution in the State.

Responding, Ize-Iyamu expressed gratitude to the traditional ruler for the honour.

He lamented the failure of Governor Godwin Obaseki to address the erosion problem wreaking havoc in Auchi and his inability to harness and put to good use the solid minerals deposit in the area.

“My promise to you is that if elected as Governor, I will fight insecurity, halt and reverse the dwindling fortunes of the youths and women by setting them in the right direction,” he said.
