The Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) said its university project located at Rigachikum in Kaduna State was being delayed due to failure to meet the required minimum standard in size of land by the National University Commission.
National leader of the group, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau disclosed this yesterday in Abuja, when he led some clerics and other dignitaries to commission a guest house built by the group at Life Camp area in Abuja.
He said while the NUC requires 100 hecters of land as minimum for a university, the group has only 7 hecters, hence the decision to convert the facilities to other purposes.
Lau said the group is presently utilising the proposed site for the university as a skill acquisition centre and other human capacity development projects, while plans for the university is still in progress.
He said the guest house, a three storey building, would be used in lodging guests of the group in the nation’s capital.
A special appeal fund to build a permanent headquarters of the group and mosque was led by the national secretary of JIBWIS, Sheikh Muhammad Kabir Gombe along with the Emir of Jiwa, Alhaji Idris Musa, who represented the FCT minister, Mallam Muhammad Bello at the occasion.
