The Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) worldwide has called for restraint among the warring factions in the Bilabiri community, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, over communal clashes.

The worldwide President of IYC, Peter Timothy Igbifa, in a statement Saturday condemned the bloody conflict, calling on security agencies and the Bayelsa State government to wade in for the interest of peace.

Daily Trust gathered that four persons were killed in clashes over disagreement on a security contract of a major multinational oil company security contract, while many indigenes and residents fled the area.

An indigene of the area identified as Embiowei, who confirmed the incident, said there is a battle for supremacy among youths on who controls an oil security contract running into millions of Naira.

When contacted, Police Spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat, denied knowledge of the clash, and promised to find out from the Divisional Police Officer in the area before reacting.
