The Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Mr Houlin Zhao will today, meet with telecom operators in the country.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Prof Umar Garba Danbatta disclosed this when Zhao visited the commission in Abuja yesterday.
Mr Zhao, who is on a two-day working visit to Nigeria, is expected to meet with the operators in company with senior officials of the NCC to discuss issues in the Nigerian telecom sector, which included some new technologies in the industry.
Meanwhile, the ITU scribe said during his visit yesterday that Nigeria remained a big investment destination in Africa.
“The Nigerian telecom sector is one of the centres of excellence in all ITU member countries. The country has continued to attract big investments and still remain a toast of investors,’’ he said.
Chairman of the NCC board, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye told the visiting ITU scribe that the Nigerian government through the NCC was investing heavily on youth empowerment through the ICT.
