A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, Farouq Adamu Aliyu, has said it is too early for politicians in the party to start jostling for 2023 elective positions.
Rather, he said, they should work towards building a viable party that could win subsequent elections.

Speaking on a radio programme monitored in Dutse on Wednesday, Aliyu, who was Minority Leader in the House of Representatives in the seventh Assembly, however, admitted it was legitimate for politicians to seek to contest for any position, but added that should be within the ambience of the party.
Aliyu’s position was in response to agitations by his supporters, who are urging him to contest the governorship election in the state come 2023, noting that such calls were coming too early.
