The Senate will on Tuesday reconvene plenary to deliberate on the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Walter Onnoghen.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Clerk to the Senate, Nelson Ayewoh.
The statement said: “This is to inform all Distinguished Senators of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the resumption of Plenary earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 19th February, 2019, has now been rescheduled for Tuesday, 29th January, 2019.
“All Distinguished Senators are by this notice, requested to resume sitting in Plenary on Tuesday, 29th January, 2019 By 10.00am prompt,” the statement said.
Daily Trust had on Sunday reported that the leadership of the Senate had met on Saturday night on the issue.
It was learnt that the decision to reconvene was taken at the leadership meeting.
The Senate had on Thursday adjourned plenary to February 19 to allow senators embark on their reelection campaigns.
But due to the CJN’s suspension, they are to reconvene to deliberate on the matter following President Muhammadu Buhari’s suspension of Onnoghen.
