ITF disburses N7bn to employers, clears SIWES allowances

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) yesterday said it had disbursed over N7bn to 510 employers of labour as reimbursement claims in 2018.

It said it also paid out N1,344,527,500.00 as backlog of unpaid Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) allowances since 2012 to students and supervisors of accredited courses that participated in the scheme.

The Director-General of the ITF, Joseph Ari, said this during the Fund’s 2018 annual performance review meeting and award ceremony in Jos.

A statement by the ITF Head of Public Affairs, Suleyol Fred Chagu, quoted Ari as describing the disbursement as the biggest pay-out to contributing employers in a calendar year since the Fund’s establishment.
