The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has commissioned a new technical and vocational centre in Yola with the aim of empowering youths and creating jobs.
The centre was officially opened on Thursday, along the road safety corps office in the state.
The Director-General/Chief Executive of the ITF, Sir Joseph N. Ari KSM, KSS, OON, who was represented by the Yola Director Procurement ITF, Yahaya Manu, made the announcement during the commissioning ceremony.
He explained that the ITF is committed to expanding access for more Nigerians to acquire skills by providing the necessary infrastructure and enhancing the efficient delivery of services in line with the ITF’s mandate.
The ITF has commissioned five new projects in 2020, including the Lagos Island Area Office Complex and Vocational Wing, Mechatronics and Administrative block at the Industrial Skills Training Centre (ISTC), Kano, the Katsina Area Office Complex and Vocational Wing, the Modern Library Complex, and Central Store at the Headquarters, and a Block of Classrooms at the ITF Staff School.
These projects were constructed using the Fund’s internally generated revenue, which further demonstrates their commitment to deepening their infrastructure.
The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Crowther Seth, commended the ITF for its efforts in providing infrastructure for skills acquisition in the state. He noted that the ITF Yola Area Office Complex and Vocational Wing will go a long way in enhancing the skills of the people of Adamawa State.
