Islamic State West Africa (ISWAP) has abducted five people, including officials of Borno state ministry of reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement and another civilian, sources have said.
They were taken on September 11 at Kareto village in Mobbar local government area of Borno.
An official confirmed the incident but didn’t want to be named.
The kidnapped persons were on their way to Damasak town on an assignment.
The kidnappers are said to have reached out to the families.
“Some days after their abduction, they (Boko Haram) called to confirm that our brothers are in their custody. So, we hope they have the change of mind. They told us something I cant tell you,” a family source said.
A day after the abduction on September 12, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, visited displaced persons in Damasak, the headquarters of Mobbar Local Government Area.
