Israel-Palestinian conflict: Two-State Solution a ‘deception’ – Gumi

Renowned Islamic scholar Dr Ahmad Mahmud Gumi has labelled the much talked about two-state solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict a “deception.”

Gumi’s remarks came just 48 hours after President Tinubu and other members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, called for an end to Israel’s aggression in Gaza during the Saudi Summit on Monday.

“This Two-State Solution is a deception. No Israeli will allow a Palestinian to survive, and Palestinians will never allow Israel to survive. The only solution is to dissolve the two states and create a democratically electable region,” he told Daily Trust in an interview at his Kaduna residence on Wednesday.

Commenting on the OIC meetings, Gumi described them as a step in the right direction, saying the Palestinians, who have been cheated, their land confiscated, their population killed, and their rights stripped away in the 21st century, are now gaining international sympathy.

Gumi said these events signal that the Muslim and Arab worlds are increasingly siding with the Palestinians, labelling the situation as “genocide” and accusing the Israeli government of committing crimes against humanity.

He further said, “Just to be frank about it, until the world goes back to the pre-1948 situation, where Palestine will harbor the Palestinian inhabitants, the Jews, and the Christians, all in one country—name that country anything, whether Palestine-Israel or whatever—it has to be one country.

“When I hear people talking about Two-State Solutions, I know they are just deceiving themselves. When you have two rams and you put them in opposite directions, they will definitely hurt each other. But if you make them face the same direction, they will continue their business peacefully. In America, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, and people of all faiths live in one country. So why can’t that region be like a small America, where Muslims, Jews, and everyone can live in peace?”
