Is Wizkid set to drop another hit?

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid or Starboy, is perhaps on his way to dropping another hit for the listening/viewing pleasure of his fans.

Wizkid took to his Twitter handle in the early hours of Wednesday with a tweet that’s full of suspense.

“Starboy on the road soon! 😎”

 

In his decade-long career, Wizkid has risen from the bustling streets of Surulere, Lagos, to take his place on the global world stage.

Highlighting his struggles as an upcoming artiste, Wizkid released the track “Ojuelegba” in 2014.

Ojuelegba was written by Wizkid and produced by the record producing duo Legendury Beatz.

The song shares its title with the metropolitan subsection of Lagos Mainland, highlighting Wizkid’s struggles as an underground artiste, who roamed the streets of Ojuelegba to support his recording interest.

The song received numerous airplay on major radio stations in Nigeria, and peaked at number 1 on Capital Xtra’s Afrobeats Chart for February 2015.

Since the release of his fourth studio album which is also his second major album, “Made in Lagos” on October 30, 2020, Starboy has grown to become one of the most listened to musician both at home and abroad.

The album features guest appearances from British artists Skepta and Ella Mai, American R&B singer H.E.R., Jamaican artists Projexx and Damian Marley, and Nigerian artists Burna Boy, Tems, Tay Iwar and Terri.
