IPPIS: ASUP decries non-payment of staff salaries

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has decried the non- payment of its members salaries and other emoluments in institutions in Abia, Benue, Imo, Edo, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo and Kogi states.

The union also lamented the non-release of the agreed revitalisation fund and the NEEDs assessment grant for the revamping of the sector.

ASUP President Anderson Ezeibe was quoted as making the assertions in a statement over the weekend in Abuja, in which he also demanded the resolution of issues affecting the members without further delay.

He said some of the issues are “poor implementation of the IPPIS in Federal Polytechnics before the payment of March 2020 salaries as captured in the union’s letter to the office of the Accountant General of the Federation.”

Anderson also noted that the federal government was yet to address non-release of the agreed revitalisation fund and the NEEDs assessment grant for revamping of the sector.

The union, after its 97th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Osun State, condemned the non-implementation and release of arrears of the consequential adjustments from the new minimum wage law as they relate to salaries of its members in states and federal institutions.
