The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Kano chapter has weighed in on the dispute that followed the adoption of Sha’aban Sharada, the House of Representatives member for Kano municipal as the governorship candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP).
Daily Trust reports that the party’s deputy chairman, Nasiru Hassan Koguna, who had earlier emerged as the candidate, threatened a lawsuit over what he termed unfulfilled promises made to him to get him to step down for Sharada.

Sharada, who recently left the All Progressives Congress (APC) after failing to clinch the party’s gubernatorial ticket, changed the political calculations in Kano after emerging among top contenders following his emergence as ADP candidate.
But reacting to the imbroglio that followed Koguna’s substitution with Sharada, IPAC in a position signed by 14 of its 18 members, urged all parties involved to “immediately turn back to the table for further positive discussions that will foster the good identity of the party in Kano.”
Reading the position of the council during a press conference, Salisu Umar, the state chairman of Young Progressives Party (YPP), stated that the council believes that it is only through positive discussion that the dispute can be amicably resolved for the betterment of the Kano State political environment and the people as well.
But responding to IPAC, the ADP chairman in Kano, Rabiu Ahmad Bako, advised the council to desist from partisanship and allow the party to handle its affairs.
