The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called for harmonious relationship between state and the newly elected local government chairmen in Yobe State.
The IPC chairman, Alhaji Umar Kikuyu, stated this at a press conference held yesterday in Damaturu.
The chairman, who commended the outcome of the just concluded local government election, noted that the new development at the grassroots would be of immense benefit to the rural populace.
He therefore called on the executive and legislature to work together closely, saying none of them could succeed in isolation.
“I wish to call on the two tiers of government to enhance effective service delivery to the people because that is the only way to convince the electorate that they did the right thing by coming out to vote,” he said.
He also commended Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for organising the election at a trying moment.
“Despite Boko Haram insurgency, Gaidam’s administration has conducted local government elections in 2011, 2013 and 2017; at a time most peaceful states did not respect the democratic principle. This is really commendable,” he stated.
