IoD champions healthy living with ‘Walk for Life’

Members of the Chartered Institute of Directors (IoD) over the weekend embarked on a health and fitness activity tagged ‘Walk for Life’ towards ensuring healthy living among its members and other participants.

The programme, which took place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, had an array of activities including a fitness walk as well as health talk.

Speaking on the essence of the programme, the President and Chairman of Council, Alhaji Tijjani Borodo, said it “Is part of activities organised in all our branches in the country. This time, it is Abuja. Fitness is key in everything we do and as you know, health is wealth.  So, that underscores the importance of healthiness.

“Also as part of activities lined up is the health talk to guide our members because we provide leadership in our offices and families. Therefore, you have to be healthy to provide good leadership,” he said.

On what the IoD is currently doing to improve national growth and development, he said, “As Chattered Institute of Directors, we provide training for our directors, and when we train our directors, they are part and parcel of different businesses, and these businesses are part and parcel of the economic development of this country.

“So, if you have right directors in right places. For example, we are providing directors to the various MDAs. By extension, we are providing that leadership in this department and I believe with that, we take the country to where it wants to be.”

Also speaking, the Chairman, IoD Abuja Zone, Nwando Chukwurah, said the forum is a gathering where the IoD encouraged all directors to keep fit, bond and network.

Commenting on the programme, a member of the IoD, Abuja Zone, Alhaji Isiaq Ajibola, said the walk for life programme “Serves as a reminder for directors to keep fit in their daily activities and also adopt healthy lifestyle.”

He said the activity served as a platform for bonding and interaction among directors.
