Some investors have expressed confidence in the Gombe State Government’s commitment towards institutionalising the state on the path of economic development and making it a preferred destination for investors.
They stated this yesterday on the second day of the ongoing Gombe Investment Summit, held at the International Conference Centre, Gombe, with the theme ‘International Development Collaboration: Facilitating Development into the North East.
Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Bauchi Field Office, Dr Tushar Reine said the 10-year development plan of the state and the commitment and receptive disposition of government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), have made the work of International Donor Agencies much easier.
He commended the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for being proactive towards harvesting a pool of seasoned administrators to help drive the growth of the state.
On her part, Public Private Partnership (PPP) Expert, Sutura Aisha Bello observed that the multiplicity of donor agencies demands a coordination unit that could harness their activities for optimal productivity and result.
She said the state government has done well in establishing the Budget Planning and Development Partner Coordination office, to produce a people’s oriented budget and also coordinate the activities of development partners for optimal results.
She advised the state government to leverage on the opportunity provided by International Donor Agencies in order to achieve some of hitser developmental needs and attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the state.
The Special Adviser on Budget Planning and Development Partner Coordination Unit (BPDPCU), Dr Ishiyaku Mohammed, said the establishment of the office was a deliberate and calculated attempt to harness the activities of development partners in line with the state’s 10-year development plan.
