Internet fraudster shoots colleague over N94m fraud proceed in Edo

A suspected internet fraudster identified as “Aza Man” has been shot allegedly by his colleague fraudster over disagreement in the sharing formular for the proceeds of the fraud they committed in Edo State.

It was learnt that the incident happened on Sunday in Okhoro, New Benin axis of the state following a fallout in the sharing formular of N94 million proceeds of internet fraud.

It was further gathered that the victim was driving in his Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) along Okhoro road when the gunmen, suspected to be fraudster, who drove in another vehicle doubled cross him with their vehicle and ordered him out of the vehicle before shooting him.

It was learnt that the victim provided a bank account to receive the proceed from the unsuspecting fraud victim on behalf of the syndicates.

Witness, however, said after taking his percentage from the proceeded of the crime, he refused to deliver the remaining amount of the fraud to his collaborators.

He described the victim as “Aza Man” – a coded phrase fraudsters used to refer to a person who provides a bank account through which the fraudsters receive proceeds of fraud from unsuspecting victims. 

He said the victim must have run into trouble after he reneged on agreement with other members of the syndicate over the N94 million that was realized in an online scam.

Responding, the command’s spokesperson, Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident.

He said the command was aware of the incident and is investigating with the aim of arresting the perpetrators. 

“The victim is undergoing treatment in the hospital,” he said.
