Inter Milan Vs Shakhtar Donetsk: Who meets Sevilla in Europa final?

The last match for the 2019/2020 Europa League semi-final is set to take place between Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk on Monday to decide who meets Sevilla at the finals.

The Spanish side, Sevilla stunned Manchester United on Sunday with a 2-1 victory to be the first to reach the final this season and fourth in seven years for the club.

Conte’s Inter has been successful in the league after notching five consecutive victories.

With their previous victories over Wolfsburg and Basel, Shakhtar cannot be underrated.

Luis Castro’s side hold a stable attacking men with Júnior Moraes (who has scored 17 goals and provided 7 assists), Taison (9 goals, 7 assists), and Marlos (9 goals, 2 assists).

What Conte said?

The Inter Milan coach, Antonio Conte told BBC that the semi-final opponents Shakhtar Donetsk will be their toughest Europa League opponents yet.

He said: “We have a lot of respect for Shakhtar.

“They have established themselves over the years.

“They are the strongest opponents we have faced so far in our Europa League path.”

“We want to show that there’s a reason that we are in the semi-finals, and our aim is to reach the final.”

Inter Milan appears in the semi-final of a European competition for the first time since winning the 2009-10 Champions League.

During their last meeting in the 2005/2006 season of the Champions League Inter won 3-1 on aggregate across two legs.

After exiting this season Champions League, Inter Milan have won all their four Europa League matches.

Shakhtar Donetsk are looking to reach only their second ever European final, last achieving that feat in the 2008-09 UEFA Cup before going on to beat Werder Bremen in the final.

Inter’s Romelu Lukaku is the first player in UEFA Cup/Europa League history to score in nine consecutive matches.
