Invincible Bendel Insurance of Benin continued from where they stopped in the first round as they fought back to draw 1-1 at Enyimba to maintain their unbeaten run in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) abridged season.
In yesterday’s keenly contested week 10 match in Aba, the host took the lead through in-form striker, Chukwuemeka Obioma who scored from the spot a minute before first half regulation time.
Enyimba were running away with the maximum point but another in-form striker, Imade Osarehkhoe, drew Insurance level in the 81st minute for a share of the spoils.
Insurance are still on top of Group A with 24 points and are now followed by Akwa United who defeated 3SC 2-0 with Cyril Olisema and Muritala scoring a goal each to dislodge Enyimba from second position with 18 points.

In Ikenne, Remo Stars compounded the woes of relegation threatened Nasarawa United after Samuel Anaekwe’s goal in the 16th minute consigned them to their 7th defeat of the season.
At the Awka City stadium, Rangers reduced their relegation worries as they rallied back to defeat Bayelsa United 2-1. The visitors had taken the lead in the 34th minute through Alex Oyowah but two second half penalties converted by Godwin Obaje ensured victory for the ‘Flying Antelopes.’
Elsewhere, Plateau United turned back Gombe United 2-0 after Izuchukwu and Silas Nenrot scored a goal each in the 32nd and 86th minute, Sunshine Stars forced Wikki Tourists to a 1-1 draw in Bauchi while title holders Rivers United survived Abia Warriors’ scare as they fought back to draw 1-1 at the Amiesimaka stadium in Port-Harcourt.
In Akure, Kwara United maintained their resurgence as they inflicted more misery on El-Kanemi after Anthony Omaka and Samad Kadiri scored a goal each in the second half for the ‘Afonja Warriors’ to take home the maximum points.
However, the ill-tempered match between Doma United and Lobi Stars at the Pantami Stadium Gombe was the talking point of the week 10 fixtures as the visitors were left fuming over an alleged attack on them by irate supporters of the home side.
The match was eventually played under a tense atmosphere with ‘Savannah Scorpions’ winning 2-0 after Daniel Barnabas and Maurice Chigozie scored a goal each in the second half.
Despite the loss, Lobi Stars are still on top of Group B with 19 points.
