Bendel Insurance compounded Doma United’s woes with a 4-0 thrashing of the ‘Savannah Tigers’ in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Week 26 match played yesterday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
Doma United who are on a free fall recently scored two own goals as their hosts recorded the biggest win of Matchday 26.
Nelson Abiam scored an own goal in the 28th minute before his teammate Auwalu Abubakar doubled the lead for the hosts with his own goal in the 42nd minute.
On resumption, Doma United didn’t concede again till the second half added time when Junior Osaghe scored two goals in two minutes to seal the massive win for the home side.
Doma United who finished third in the first round have not tasted victory since the resumption of the second round.
At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United fought back to pick the maximum points against title contenders Plateau United who took the lead in the 14th minute when Albert Hilary scored from the spot.
However, Andrew Idoko equalised for the hosts in the 40th minute before Chidera Eze scored the winner in the 79th minute after Okoro Ibe’s penalty miss.Elsewhere, league leaders Lobi Stars fell 2-1 at Enugu Rangers, Ukeme Williams scored the only goal as Rivers United piped Heartland 1-0 in Port-Harcourt, kwara United also lost 0-2 at Sporting FC Lagos while Gombe United were forced to a 1-1 draw at home by Akwa United.
In Aba, title holders Enyimba defeated Niger Tornadoes 3-0. After a barren first half, Alade Balogun scored the first goal in the 67th minute, Elijah Akanni doubled the lead in the 70th minute before Uche Collins sealed the win five minutes from regulation time.
In Yenagoa, Pillars surrendered their early lead to lose 2-1 to Bayelsa United, Sunshine Stars forced Abia Warriors to a barren draw in Umuahia while returnee Christian Pyagbara scored a goal in each half for 3SC to inflict another South-west derby defeat on Remo Stars.
