Some Yoruba leaders and scholars on Monday, asked agitators of the Oduduwa nation to be clinical and not violent about the demands for separation.
The leaders, who gathered under “Conference of Yoruba”, however, called for the decentralisation of government to allow the six geo-political zones in the country have autonomy to function.

They spoke when they met at Babcock University Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, on Monday for the sixth Atanda lectures and conference on Yoruba culture and society.
The conference which had in attendance Yoruba scholars and traditional rulers, led by Professor of History, University of Texas at Austin , Prof. Toyin Falola, submitted that decentralisation of power would solve most of the problems facing the country including insecurity.
Speaking on the essence of the conference held in remembrance of the late Professor of History, Joseph Atanda, Falola said the late scholar contributed immensely to the teaching of Yoruba history and culture while alive.
The Orangun of Oke-Ila,Osun State, Oba Abolarin Adedokun, also called for more patience and tolerance among the tribes and ethnic groups in the country .
