The federal government says it has mapped out strategies to prevent some unnamed Nigerians who are financing terrorism, laundering Nigeria’s money, as well as other offences in the lottery industry.
Lanre Gbajabiamila, the Director-General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, was quoted to have disclosed this during weekend in Nasarawa when he spoke to journalists at the sideline of a workshop “Effects of Hate Speech, Fake News, Financial and Cyber crimes on National Security”.

Gbajabiamila, who was represented by the commission’s Head of Public Affairs, Magnus Ekechukwu, also expressed concerns over the mass proliferation of weapons leading to mass destruction of property in some parts of the country.
A statement by the commission on Sunday noted that the NLRC Gbajabiamila had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) for efficient and effective implementation of the strategies.
“The new technology-based measures are being attained through information and intelligence sharing with the relevant agencies and arms of government,” Gbajabiamila was quoted to have said in the statement.
He said the commission was totally committed and dedicated to the war against corruption and insecurity being fought by the Federal Government and would spare no efforts in playing its part as a responsible and responsive commission of the government.
