Insecurity: W/African youths call for dialogue

The West African Youth Congress (WAYC) says the security challenges in the region can only be tackled through dialogue.

It asked the youths to give peace a chance while agitating for their demands.

The Secretary-General and Head of Mission of WAYC, Amb. Ahmed Marafa, made the call in Abuja yesterday during the inauguration of members of the West Africa Youths And Students Summit (WAYSS).

Marafa said: “The young generation must shun actions that will undermine and disturb the peace of our region.

“Actions which will lead to insecurity and further undermine the development of our nation should be stopped by embracing dialogue with our leaders, and not resort to violence and destructions as we have no other home than our individual ECOWAS nations.”

He said the WAYSS would bring peace to the region.

He also disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari would be decorated as the 2021 WAYSS Grand Commander of Youth Empowerment and Development.

“This will be the largest gathering of youths in the sub-region. We’re expecting 600 participants in Abuja Nigeria and we’ll translate the programme in English, Portuguese and French.

Marafa charged the committee members to work hard for the success of the West African youths and the students submit.
