Insecurity: Senate in closed session with service chiefs

They are expected to brief the lawmakers on efforts to address the rising insecurity in the country.

The Senate is currently in a closed door session with the Chief of Defence Staff, the service chiefs, the inspector General of Police and heads of intelligence agencies.

The security chiefs were earlier scheduled to brief the Senate on Tuesday but later postponed till Wednesday to allow them attend the National Security Council meeting at the Presidential Villa.

Those in attendance are General Lucky Irabor (Chief of Defence Staff), Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru ( Chief of Army Staff); Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo (Chief of Naval Staff); and Vice Marshal Isiaka O. Amao (Chief of Air Staff).

Also in the meeting are the Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, the National Security Adviser, Babagana Munguno, Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (Rtd) and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.
