The House of Representatives yesterday urged the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Leo Irabor, to begin a joint security operations in communities bordering Taraba and Plateau states.
This followed the adoption of a motion by a member from Taraba State, Abdulsalam Mubarak, on the urgent need to flush out bandits in the areas.
He decried that banditry in the areas had increased with several reported cases of killings, rape and kidnappings on a daily basis.
The House urged the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and the North East Development Commission to assess the extent of damage and provide relief materials to the victims.
It also urged the Chief of Army Staff to establish military bases in the affected areas.
