Insecurity: NPC Urges Sokoto LGs to provide security for demarcators

The National Population Commission, has urged local governments areas of Sokoto State to provide adequate security for demarcators working at security challenged areas.

The National Commissioner, representing Sokoto State, Alhaji Chuso Abdullahi Dattijo, made the call while assessing the ongoing demarcation of enumeration areas in Binji Local Government of the state.

He gave an assurance that no area in all the 23 local government areas no matter how remotely located would be left out during the exercise.

“But the local government authorities must ensure their safety, especially in security challenged areas,” he insisted

He applauded the Tureta Local Government Area for providing enough security for the demarcators , urging the authorities of other banditry-prone local government areas to do the same.

Chuso, who was once a deputy governor of the state, appealed to the people of the state to cooperate with the demarcators by allowing them access to their homes.

He thanked the Sole Administrator of the council for providing accommodation and other logistic to the workers.

Also speaking, NPC’s Coordinator in Sokoto, Dr. Kingsley . C. Okereke, said the demarcation was to curve out enumeration areas in preparation for the national population census.

According to him, 40% of the demarcation had been completed.

The Sole Administrator, Alhaji Wadata Maikulki, assured that the council would provide enough security and necessary logistic support to the workers to enable them successfully carryout their assignment.
