The Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Mohammed Kabiru Maikarfi 111, has banned all nocturnal celebrations in Lokoja town as well as all the adjoining communities until further notice.

City News gathered that the monarch’s decision was informed by the activities of hoodlums who are taking advantage of such celebrations to attack people in the state capital.

The Sarkin Warkin Wasa of Lokoja, Mallam Muhammadu Baba Shata, who announced the ban, said the traditional artistes have been instructed to abide by the law and see the directive as a sacrifice for the restoration of peace in Lokoja.

However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP William Aya, denied knowledge of the ban by the monarch.

He, however, said the police in the state would enforce any order either by the government or any authorized institution, aimed at peace in the state.
