Insecurity : NAF reactivates 3 fighter jets in Kano

The Nigeria Airforce has reactivated 3 of its L39ZA fighter jets under its life extension programme to boost its operations in North West and Eastern part of the country.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal, Sadique Abubakar while supervising the ground running of one of the aircrafts in Kano said the reactivated air crafts would be deployed to Katsina, Zamfara and Kaduna states to check insecurity challenges in those places.

According to him, this is the second time in five years the air force is re-activating such plane types in Kano, Makurdi and Kainji saying that “we are committed to securing the country.”

He said, some of these maintenance are done locally while others involved using parent manufacturing countries, adding that “about 200 of our personnel are in 9 different countries undergoing trainings on aircrafts maintenance.

“Aside these jets, 2 weeks ago 2 Alpha jets came on board ‎also, our 9130 had its period check and preparing for the third” he said

He lauded the support of the federal government to the Airforce, saying it would go a long way in strengthening it’s operations to tame insecurity across the country.
