Insecurity: Monarch advocates local vigilante operation

The Emir of Kanam, Dangi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Alhaji Muhammad Mu’azu Muhammad has urged the government to allow local communities to assist in providing security against the activities of kidnappers and bandits.

The traditional ruler made the call in Jos, during the closing ceremony of the 28th Annual National Seminar organised by Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS).

The traditional ruler said that the security situation was not so bad in the past because of support from the local populace.

He said: “I believe that if the government allows people, they can do it. Government has to come out openly and say this because people cannot participate fully without the approval of the government.”

He called on Muslims to seek for Allah’s forgiveness as a way of getting succour to the multitude of problems facing the country.

He further called on those who have a hand in any form of criminality to repent.

“Don’t forget that if you kill someone, one day, you will also die.”
