The Katsina Emirate has banned traditional Sallah Durbar for this year’s Eid-el-fitr due to the security situation in the state.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Secretary to the emirate council and Sarkin Yakin Katsina, Alhaji Bello Ifo.
“His Highness the Emir of Katsina, Alh. (Dr) Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, CFR has directed me to inform all the people of Katsina State that in the wake of the recent spate of kidnappings and killings of our Muslim brothers in the Katsina Emirate, coupled with the advice from the Government, the Security forces and the Ministry of Health, the emirate has decided not to conduct the Hawan Sallah and any other ceremonies,” the statement read in part.
The statement, however, added that the Eid prayers will be held as usual and prayers for peace will be offered to Allah to keep Katsina and the country safe.
Recall that Daura and Bauchi emirates have banned the traditional Sallah Durbar as a result of insecurity.
But some Emirates in Kano have declared their intention to conduct Sallah Durbar.
