Top clerics and prominent indigenes of Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State have advised governors across the country to domesticate the strategy used by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State in tackling insecurity in their domain.

The advise is coming on the heels of the worsening security situation across the country as Nigeria celebrate it’s 61 years anniversary.

Speaking during a special prayer for the nation and symposium against insecurity in Ilorin, they called for concerted efforts by all and sundry to win the fight.

In his keynote address at the conference themed ‘Rise Against Insecurity in Nigeria’ (RAIN), Dr Mohammed Gambari of the Department of Religious Studies, University of Ilorin, said the prayers became necessary to complement the efforts of the federal government.

He said the fight could not be left in the hands of the state and Federal Governments adding that all hands must be on deck to liberate Nigeria from the hands of “aliens who have turned to blood-sucking demons.”

“Together, we must make Nigeria better for our generations yet unborn to live quality lives,” he stated.

Speaking on behalf of Ilorin Emirate sons and daughters, Imam Gambari of Ilorin, Imam Sulaiman Al-Gambari who led the prayer for the nation singled out Governor Bello for his strategy to involve all indigenes in Kogi state for the fight against insecurity.

He called on all Ilorin descendants, Kwarans and Nigerians to Rise Against Insecurity in Nigeria and make life unbearable for criminals.

“We also call on politicians and governments at all levels to desist from politicising the issue of insecurity in the interest of all Nigerians.

“It has kept the youths busy with worthy jobs and made the task of securing the state everybody’s business. Other governors, particularly in the North should emulate him.

“We can play politics, but when it comes to the issue of security of lives and property, we must rally round those that are getting it right and also take lessons to make our domains better instead of engaging in acts of sabotage”, he said.

Ace Nollywood actor and an indigene of Ilorin, Chief Adebayo Salami, who spoke at the event, also agreed with all that had been said and added that the programme was necessary at this point in time because of the rising insecurity.
