Insecurity forces FCE, Gombe to shut down

A statement by the Registrar of the college, Ahmed Mohammed Dukku, said the closure followed an “unannounced military operation in the college which had a negative effect on students and staff”.
He said military operatives were deployed to the school without any written or verbal notice to the school authority.
“The governing council of Federal College of Education (Tech) has, after reviewing the security situation in Gombe and developments in the college in the past few days, directed the immediate closure of the college until further notice. All students should vacate the campus until the security situation in Gombe improves. Staff are also to await further announcement before resuming to work,” the statement read.
