Insecurity: Don’t relent, Niger gov tells security operatives

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has urged the police and other security operatives battling insurgency in the state not to deter in spite of the renewed attacks on communities where many security operatives and residents have been killed in recent time.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mary Noel-Berje, the governor condoled with the state police command and families of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Nasko Division, CSP Umar Dakin-Gari; two other policemen and four members of the state vigilantes’ corps killed by bandits on Tuesday.

The governor assured the people of the government’s continuous support in ensuring that the insecurity in the state is curtailed.

He described the attack as painful and unfortunate, noting that while some levels of successes had been recorded recently “Following the onslaught by the joint security operatives which led to the killing of so many terrorists, the unrepentant criminals are bent on making some parts of the state unsafe to the residents.”

Bello also commiserated with residents of Munya Local Government Area over the killing, kidnapping and injury of many people in Chibani, Fuka, Dandaudu and other adjoining communities, saying the situation was quite disturbing.
