Senator Andy Uba, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra, has urged Governor Willie Obiano to be proactive in handling the affairs of the state.

There has been a high wave of violence in the buildup to the November governorship election.

In a statement his campaign issued on his behalf on Thursday, Uba said Obiano could have done better if he had listened to the citizenry and the party all this while.

Reacting to last night’s statewide broadcast by the governor over the security challenges situation in the state, Uba it took the intervention of the APC for Governor Obiano to address the state on the deteriorating security situation.

He said killings have been going on for a long time in the state but the governor looked other way, apparently clueless on how to react.

According to him, the only reason Obiano spoke was because he urged him to rise up to the challenges to rescue the state.

The statement was signed by Director of Media and Publicity, Senator Andy Uba Governorship Campaign Organisation, Hon. Victor Afam Ogene.

“Now that our dear governor has finally spoken, it is our earnest hope that we shall move from speeches to implementing practical solutions aimed at restoring normalcy.”

“As chief security officer of Anambra state, Governor Obiano must apply a hands on approach in tackling the menace of insecurity threatening to drown the state. In fact, the situation is so dire that if it requires seeking help from colleague governors and the federal authorities, Governor Obiano must not hesitate to do so,” he said.
